The band has carved out their own distinctive niche in the modern shoegaze revival, pushing beyond the genre's traditional boundaries by weaving psychedelic rock melodies with expansive, atmospheric compositions. Their sound creates an immersive experience that's both dreamy and intense, drawing listeners into a world where guitar-driven atmospherics meet carefully crafted song structures.
OEIL (Tokyo, Japan)
A dynamic shoegaze duo from Tokyo's underground music scene. The band consists of Takahumi Hibino (guitars, production) and Mitsuko Hosino (vocals, synthesizers).
, OEIL crafts a distinctive wall-of-sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Hibino's guitar creates layers of reverb-soaked melody, while Hosino's vocals float through the mix like a ghost in the machine.
Present (Bay Area, CA)
Present is a five-piece band from the Bay Area, California, known for blending various genres, with a primary focus on alternative rock and grunge. Their music draws clear inspiration from iconic '90s bands, while also showcasing their own distinct sound. Featuring a softer female vocalist paired with a powerful trio of guitars, Present crafts a unique sonic landscape with unapologetic and authentic songwriting at its core.
Lozenge (Leeds, UK)
The Leeds-based shoegaze band collect their first 3 singles, plus new song Aubrey Plaza, into their debut extended play.
The band was formed by Joe Collinson (vocals, guitar), who recruited Jacob Marston (drums, ex-Dead Naked Hippies) and James Heywood (bass).
Carefully cradling close mic’d restraint through rock slides of noise, Blink Into Nothing showcases a band piecing together scattered fragments of 90s alternative rock. The melodic introspection of Elliot Smith is repurposed for denser, more claustrophobic and at times abstract sound in search of an audible gasp.
Lyrically, the EP touches on themes of isolation, mid-twenties anxiety, and the inevitability of becoming parents.
Blink Into Nothing was recorded with Tom Orrell at The Nave in Leeds over a period of a few years, fractured by the COVID pandemic. Initially a solo studio project for Collinson, Heywood and Marston were brought in to fill out the sound.
